Ibai Atutxa has worked, from New York and Barcelona, with the latest trends in critical theories to analyze the dominant discourses of the Basque Country. He is currently studying the violent construction of contemporary Europe.

At university, he has worked with Basque literature, comparative literature, contemporary philosophy, and cultural studies – always from the perspectives of gender, class, race, and sexuality. He currently holds a PhD from the University of Valencia and is a PhD student at Columbia University.

In 2011 and 2013, he published the books Tatxatuaren azpiko nazioaz (The Nation Under the Correction Marks) and Tatxatuaren gaineko nazioaz (The Nation Atop the Correction Marks). In 2014, he defended the thesis entitled Sabotage of the Basque Culture in Valencia, and he is now working on the book project entitled Transiting Through the Toxic.
