Ingrid Guardiola

Teacher, audiovisual programmer, director and essayist. Using all these facets, she has contributed to public reflection and debate on TV formats and the role of images and technology devices in the contemporary world. She coordinated Soy Cámara (I Am Camera), a laboratory for new audiovisual formats produced by CCCB, between 2015 and 2020, and co-curated its content together with Andrés Hispano and Félix Pérez-Hita while simultaneously co-creating it. She sits on the programming committee for Mostra de Televisió de Qualitat de Barcelona (MINIPUT), which she directed between 2002 and 2018. She holds a PhD in Humanities from Pompeu Fabra University and has been part-time professor at the University of Girona since 2009. She has taught in several Catalan universities, where she has also conducted research on matters related to gender, inequality and technology in the context of audiovisual culture and practice. In this field, she is one of the drivers of the project titled La dimensión poco conocida: pioneras del cine (The Little-Known Dimension: Female Pioneers of Film), which researches and disseminates the history of women who have made film. Her feature-length directorial debut was the documentary essay Casa de ningú (Nobody's Home, Boogaloo Films, 2017), in which she uses the viewpoint of two ageing communities to reflect on memory, productivity, work, and their own extinction as a community. The recently published essay L’ull i la navalla (The Eye and the Knife) (Arcàdia, 2018, Serra d'Or d'Assaig Critics Prize 2018) analyses how images and data condition our private life and determine the dynamics of the public sphere and of communities. The Spanish version, El ojo y la navaja, was published in 2019. She recently published the essay Fils, cartes sobre el confinament, la vigilància i l'anormalitat (Threads, letters on confinement, surveillance, and abnormality) together with Marta Segarra.
