Elena Setien is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer.
She has two higher degrees, in classical violin and in singing and the pedagogy of modern singing -in addition to a master´s degree in modern singing. She studied classical music with Susan Collier at the University of Surrey in the UK, and modern music with Etta Cameron at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen, Denmark. During her creative career Elena has released as a duo or co-leading, or solo, nine records. The last two were released by the Thrill Jockey Records label in Chicago. Elena has received awards and grants from both the Danish Ministry of Arts and the Basque Country’s Musika Bulegoa. Likewise, she has performed at international festivals such as the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Otawa Jazz Festival, Rochester Jazz Festival, Berlin Jazz Festival,
Jazzaldia in San Sebastián, Primavera Sound or the International Festival of Sacred Art in Madrid.
