Luis Macías is artist, filmmaker and recycler of images. His works in movie format 8mm, super 8 and 16mm are conceived as projects of Film Performance or Expanded Cinema. His artistic worries are focused in two points: the physical work on cinematographic movie, as well as the recycling and re-invention of new relations between the images. His offers in movie and/or video are conceived both projection in dark room and for performance or installation in the white bucket.

He is a member of Crater Collective - www.cratercollective.com, and founder of Crater-Lab, a laboratory of analogical independent cinema managed by artists - www.crater-lab.org.

In parallel, he is a programmer of experimental cinema and he develops theoretical-practical workshops, specialized in different variants of experimental cinema, appropriation, cinema without camera, super 8 and handmade developing, both in schools of cinema and in centers of art and museums.

His works in format of Expanded Cinema and Performatic Cinema have been seen in Festivals and Centers of Art in Barcelona (Loop, Europes, Primavera Sound, Sonar, Mostra Súper 8) A Coruña (S8), Bilbao (MEM), Salvador de Bahía (Museo Arte Moderna), Caracas (Cinemateca Nacional, Museo Bellas Artes), Quito (Cine OchoyMedio), New York (Millenium, Microscope Gallery), Los Ángeles (Echo Park Film Center), San Francisco (ATA Site. Among others, his movies have appeared in festivals as Ann Arbor (Detroit), Crossroads (San Francisco), L´Alternativa (Barcelona), Curtas Vila do Conde (Portugal), Exis (Korea) and Belo Horizonte (Brasil).
