Pastoral - Gala Knörr

Pastoral is an artistic research project that works with the figures of Basque shepherds and black American cowboys, overlooked by popular culture and mainstream media storytelling. Domains that helped construct the historic identity of American folklore in the 20th century, typified through entertainment, Hollywood film, Spaghetti Westerns, and commerce. Pastoral will explore these figures and their history through a pictorial formalisation in which the solitary figures demand their representation in the contemporary narrative of hybrid identities.
