What is PRAKTIKASTIKA?
PRAKTIKASTIKA is a collaboration proposal between Tabakalera’s Mediation Department and a Secondary Education learning centre to carry out a long-term project that makes it possible for the school setting to work with art in new and different ways.
This collaboration work consists of developing an artistic creation project over the course of the school year within the framework of the Plastic, Visual, and Audiovisual Education course. This learning process is backed by the help of young art creators connected to work spaces at Tabakalera and 2deo, Tabakalera’s Basque-language audiovisual laboratory.
As such, this is an experimental learning process between the school selected, Tabakalera’s Hezkuntza Department, and 2deo that proposes a new way of thinking together about development, content, and ways of presenting said course - throughout the entire school year.
_ First Pilot Project (2022/23)
This first edition consists of a pilot project around digital creation. We understand that the student body, the school’s young people, are consumers as well as producers of digital audiovisual content. For this reason, we propose working on the creative and critical meaning of these processes throughout the school year, connecting their realities and interests to curricular content to make the Plastic, Visual, and Audiovisual Education course a modern, conscious, and useful tool for students and teaching staff.
The practice will focus on the creation of a student-led podcast, accompanied by the Tabakalera Mediation educator team and artists associated with the 2deo space.
Why? What is the goal?
This open call arises from the need to include contemporary artistic practices as an education strategy, offering new resources to the Plastic, Visual, and Audiovisual Education teaching staff, taking the student creation environment and imagination as its foundation.
PRAKTIKASTIKA’s main challenge is addressing the reality of young people with an artistic creation and learning process that includes their interests. In turn, the programme intends to shake up the content of the Plastic, Visual, and Audiovisual Education course’s school curriculum and seek out new ways of working with them.
Who is the target audience?
We are targeting secondary school students and teaching staff of Plastic, Visual, and Audiovisual Education* courses at any Secondary Education school in Donostialdea.

When will it take place?
The project will be developed during the 2022/23 school year. It will begin in September 2022 and end in June 2023. The execution schedule and calendar will correspond to the schedule and calendar of the Plastic, Visual, and Audiovisual Education course at the participating learning centre.

If you would like to participate, just send an email to hezkuntza@tabakalera.eus before 24 June with a brief presentation of the centre and the reasons why you are interested in participating in the open call (500 words maximum) .
We will then hold a simple personal interview with each of the individuals/groups interested, and we will announce the selected learning centre the week of 4 July.
