Understanding experimental art as a valid form of humanist interpretation of pioneering development in the field of science, I’m motivated to produce new tools for contemporary art creation in a physical format. I’m passionate about ambient music and non-linear audiovisual narratives. In this sense, I’m quite interested in the architecture of sound, in how it is distributed through space, and how we perceive theoretically “static” offerings in a linear way (in time).
On an atomic level, for example, there are many similarities between the behaviour of sound waves and quantum waves/particles when they are superimposed or create interference. Humans are not able to perceive these kinds of true quantum overlaps, but we can capture and express the intensity and emotions that these acoustic phenomena stir within us.
When studying one of the most important quantum mechanics models (the Quantum Harmonic Oscillator), my brain kept finding parallels and I asked myself how these wave functions would sound. While it is true that there are foundational differences between this system and the Classic Harmonic Oscillator, it should be possible to reinterpret this system.
During my residency at Tabakalera, I am presenting the creation of a digital electronic instrument, a tool to sonify this quantum model-system, fomenting the creation of singular sound landscapes, pushing my interpretative/sound language towards a new natural space, while at the same time inviting audiences to imagine and discover this representation of energy.
