Chemistry is the main instrument for the industrialisation of processed food. However, in its origins as alchemy it had esoteric, magical and philosophical applications, and was also connected to inner enrichment. What interests control the values of chemistry nowadays?

The Rojo 40 project is an information cross-over between medieval alchemy archives and the modern chemistry surrounding industrialised food products. Starting out from the value differences between the esoteric/philosophical search of alchemy and the economic and industrial ends of current chemistry, the project focuses on the artificial nature of the food we consume on a daily basis, drawing on the alchemical concept of visually and symbolically transmitting knowledge.
