For more than three years, I have been interested in the different artistic manifestations and representations of the idea of Evil and its social problems. Throughout this time, the books ‘Pensar y no caer’ (Thinking and Not Falling) and ‘Diccionario de música, mitología, magia y religión’ (Dictionary of Music, Mythology, Magic and Religion), by the writer and thinker Ramón Andrés, have been hugely significant. These titles were crucial to the development of this vast area. The author from Navarre agreed to direct my project artistically. From March last year, using his conceptual framework, I began working work ideas of animality, European identity, death and problematic bodies, with musical production support from Xabier Erkizia. The entire work incorporated sonic peculiarities related with the diabolical, such as the sounds of the hurdy-gurdy, the bagpipes, industrial music or the full range and complexity of the voice. This current artistic residency will strengthen the foundations of my new record project and constitutes a first attempt at its staging, beyond concert concepts.
