This is a project born from the understanding of the functioning of Tabakalera’s building and the questioning of its superficial normality. This means the interior and exterior life of the building, its community, its users, the programme, the spatial connections, the relationships generated within it, the languages spoken, the subjects discussed are analysed...
Instead of focusing on the usual data and measurements, the artists put their attention on those elements that are more difficult to measure and see: the footprints of the breath, the various movements of the footprints, the rhythms of the sounds heard in space or the dances of the shadows.
How would we detect a cultural centre if we observed it from other logics? What alternatives would be possible if we use senses in another way? What would emerge?
From these reflections from new points of view, the first small-scale models and diagrams were created, which were later tested to be translated into plans and space. These diagrams and the attempt to bring them to a large scale are presented here.
