Itxaro Borda (1959, Bayonne) is a writer, poet and reporter for various Basque media outlets. She has written lyrics for numerous singers from across the Basque Country (both Iparralde and Hegoalde). She began publishing in the weekly magazine Herria, almost half a century ago. She was involved in setting up the magazine Maiatz and has since published novels, poetry collections and essays in Maiatz and with the publishers Susa, Elkar and Alberdania. Itxaro Borda is behind various crime novels featuring the detective character Amaia Ezpeldoi. She published the novel Susmaezinak with Alberdania in 2019 and the poetry collection Abaro with Balea Zuria in 2020. She has recorded two audiobooks: Ogella Line (2010) and Guhaur Arrotzak (2013), with Olivier Cavalier and the Aquitaine group Orchestre Maigre.
