Bertsolari "basque oral improviser". Graduate in Fine Arts.
Maialen Lujanbio has developed her career in the world of bertsolaritza (traditional improvised singing). She has 30 years of experience travelling from plaza to plaza across the Basque Country, constantly improvising; and se has worked on different moments, forms and genres of bertsolaritza with members of different generations and she continues to be part of its development.
Lujanbio has acquired her experience through this spontaneous way of acting, totally linked to place and time. In addition she has participated in other creative projects related to that field, which hasled her to investigate questions related to the background and form
of the verses, as well as their expressive possibilities. Skipping frombertsolaritza to speech, from oral to written, from song to sound, she has participated in various group projects with other artists and cultural agents.
