Anthropology is one of the academic fields in which a great deal of vocation comes into play. Because of its conceptual and theoretical scope and its experiential approach to life contexts and people's everyday practices, anthropology offers a symmetrical, yet demanding and committed, union between the university and society. Likewise, the Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture understands that anthropology is a natural ally in getting the most current reflections and debates about human beings and their worlds out to the public.

That is why this project has forged a cooperative relationship with the UNIVERSITY MASTER’S DEGREE IN SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY Programme at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) so that figures from anthropology –both well-known and emerging– can offer public lectures and conferences to bring together students, professionals and anyone interested in learning about other realities, reflecting on their own reality, and speculating on what is to come.
