Descripción Larga

In this 1961 piece for choir (with a duration of 3:57 min), the artist instructs the singers in the production of sounds that go beyond the sung text.

The piece has a sonata-like format, with an exposition followed by a development and a recapitulation. It contains all manner of sounds arising from an unorthodox use of the voice – now typical of sound pieces based on phonetic exploration. At times, the artist explores the dynamic power of vocals before playing with a wide variety of timbres, and there is no lack of whistling, tongue clicking and whispers which gradually create patterns that take us into white noise, electronic-like textures and ambient percussion.
