This is a reflection on territory, travel, borders, maps, expeditions, discovery, adventure, power, conquest, far-off lands, history and its stories, and about how contemporary cinema reflects on geographies and suggests new forms and collective imagery. Using as a starting point the dialogue between Werner Herzog's film Aguirre, the Wrath of God and the Lope de Aguirre exhibition in the Basque Maritime Museum (March 28th to June 23rd), the Tabakalera cinema presents a film cycle which looks at how contemporary film reflects critically and poetically on the idea of new territories: new cinematographic forms, new questions, new landscapes.

The programme includes: a magical and political reflection on the history and people of the Republic of Karelia (on the Finnish-Russian border) in the film by Andrés Duque; a triple bill with Isaki Lacuesta investigating what’s hidden in Internet maps, a voyage to the planet Mars and an answer to the question “Where are you?”; Víctor Moreno’s science fiction-like immersion in the unknown, fascinating and mysterious Madrid underground; and a closing film which converses directly with Herzog's around the idea that conquering a territory is a vital and historical defeat—Zama, by Lucrecia Martel.
