I like to refer to my pieces as: when you're sad and you put on sad music to make yourself sadder. I look at how accessories affect our body physically and emotionally. I explore certain aspects of fashion that interest me, but always draw on my sculptural knowledge. E.g. an oversize jacket with Tamos lloran2 y no es pa tanto in reflective lettering, a pair of high-waisted trousers with the text Fíjate lo mal k stoy written across a butt moving with twerk steps. I look at postures and situations relative to social networks and urban music which address self-esteem, style and fame.
The goal of my work is to find a physical way of presenting to my generation. These highly aesthetic pieces prove attractive and trigger a need to own them. It is an aesthetic based on the latest trends. The video clip aesthetic, the latest sneakers, the statements by Kanye West about bipolarity, made while he wears a cream tracksuit and a pair of Yeezy.
This is why I feel at ease with the concept of screen, because it is from this that we receive the aesthetic. These images and videos are the result of a situation that can only be seen on screen. The text on the garment is made in reflective fabric. The camera flash falls directly on the material, which reflects and is illuminated like a light source, often obscuring the text. The background becomes dark, and the text is brought into a physical space.
