Atlas is the self-publishing workshop we run once a month at Medialab. Through a collective process we will create a fanzine during the year. We will decide on the theme, fill the pages with words and drawings, work on the cover and typography, design, arrange and layout the content... and finally, we will work on the printing and binding until our fanzine is published. To carry out the whole process, the resources (tools, space, devices...) and the collection offered by Medialab Tabakalera to all users will be essential, an inexhaustible source of ideas and references.
The Atlas project began in 2015 in the kitchen of the Atotxa tower in San Sebastian with the help of the Guillotina collective. Subsequently, we moved to Tabakalera and have spent years getting closer to the world of illustration, engraving, bookbinding and calligraphy, learning techniques to create our own publications based on DIY and DIWO philosophies.
